In the last few weeks, there have been several leaks that has kept the Samsung Galaxy 7 and LG G5 on the lime-light. While those leaks and rumors have given us a glimpse of what to expect, the MWC 2016 will give us a total revelation of what these flagships brings into the mobile community.Design
Samsung will stick to its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge design that stole the show in 2015. After all, if it’s not broken don’t fix. From renders, it’s pretty clear the South-Korean major won’t be overhauling its design, but the Galaxy S7 will see a slight change in design language, the S7 is said to have a curved edge at the back instead of the flat one that rocked that S6.
LG G5 won’t have the characteristic look and feel of the G4. Rumors suggest that the G5 won’t be as curved as the LG G4 on the back, but could feature a modular design.
This modular design of the G5 which is still a rumor at this time, will allow users detach the bottom of the phone to reveal the battery; then you can simply slide in or out. The G4 had a removable battery; LG might want the G5 to also feature a removable battery using that design language.
It is also rumored that the G5 would feature a secondary display dedicated for apps and notification. The same design concept of the LG V10.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy S7 is rumored to feature a 12MP primary snapper with f/1.7 aperture while the front-facing camera would be pegged at 5MP.
Last year, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Plus decimated most smartphones in the camera department; Samsung will like to ride on that huge success with the S7.
Now, this has been around for some time and there hasn’t been a way to get an official confirmation from LG. Rumor millers have concluded that the G5 will come with a dual 16MP camera at the back and 8MP seflie camera.
There have been several leaks that suggest the LG G5 dual primary camera is the real deal, but we just have to wait few more days to see how these stuff shape up.
Hardware
Samsung and LG will push their flagship smartphones with top-of-the-line and next-gen specs to woo their loyal fanbase and attract new users.
Samsung Galaxy S7 is said to feature a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, 12MP BRITECELL camera with f/1.7 aperture, and a 5 MP secondary camera. The smartphone is expected to have two SoC configuration – one having Exynos 8890 and the other featuring Snapdragon 820. The flagship will also have 4GB RAM and 64GB on-board storage with a return of the microSD card slot. Samsung has also been tipped to pack the Galaxy S7 with a bigger 3500mAh battery as well as a fingerprint sensor on the home button.
LG will reduce the 5.5-inch display on the G4 to a 5.3 QHD display on the G5. The flagship will feature Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM.
Rumor has it that the LG G5 will come with an eye scanner, USB-C connectivity and the introduction of a fingerprint sensor at the back of the smartphone.
Features
Samsung will be bring some features of the iPhone 6S to the Galaxy S7. Synaptics is working on a technology called ClearFore which will replicate Apple 3D Touch on Samsung flagship. It is also said that the S7 will also feature a clone of Apple Live Photos.
Samsung Galaxy S7 will be waterproof and dustproof. A video posted on Samsung’s Indonesian official page confirms that aspect of the smartphone.
LG has teased features like Always On mode which will display notification of the screen without turning on the screen. A dual camera, secondary display and modular design seems to be killer disrupting specs and features LG will use against it competitors this year.
